Dreamer,
Therapy-Dog-in-Training
Dreamer: Hi my name is Dreamer. I am a Lhasa Apso. I am a therapy-dog-in-training. The American Kennel Club (AKC) described my breed as "joyful and mischievous, dignified and aloof." They also say that my temperament is "gay and assertive, but chary of strangers." This must be true. My former foster parent says I am a playful and interactive puppy! I am a little shy until I get comfortable with you. But, I am just a lapdog at heart. I am listed as one of the hypoallergenic breeds and I don't shed much. I'm up-to-date on all of my shots. I am very well behaved. I will join you in your session if you specifically request that I do so. Otherwise, I will understand if you prefer I stay in the business office during you visit.
I have been through super puppy protocol. That means I have had experiences with a wide variety of places, people, dogs, weather, car rides, kennels, food, etc. I am house-broken (going outside) and know age-appropriate commands and manners. I am an overachiever who is training to be a "co-therapist." I still have a lot of training to do. I can't wait to earn my AKC Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) certificate and complete my training to become registered therapy dog by the Delta Society and Therapy Dog International. I will do animal-assisted-activities and animal-assisted-therapy. Research suggests that animal-assisted therapy can increase trust, self-esteem, motivation, and attention span. It can also decrease loneliness and anxiety. It would make me so happy to help. Say "hello" when you stop by.
