Have you or a loved one experienced or witnessed a traumatic event? Examples of traumatic experiences include, incest, rape, emotional and physical abuse, violence, crime, accident or disaster. Do you try to avoid thinking about anything that reminds you of the trauma? Are you having difficulty trusting others? Do you distance yourself from others? Have others complained that you overreact? Do you have any compulsive habits? Are you confused about your interaction with a loved one who have experienced a trauma? If yes, then this group can help you understand how past trauma may be impacting your life and relationships presently.
Ten-week Women's Trauma Group is designed to create a therapeutic support group for trauma survivors. This group introduces participants to the basics: types of trauma, trauma responses, PTSD symptoms, coping strategies for trauma, and compassion fatigue. This group is the prerequisite or concurrent requirement for 'Thriving After Trauma' and 'Trauma Recovery and Empowerment' groups.
