Have you or a loved one experienced or witnessed a traumatic event? Examples of traumatic experiences include, incest, rape, emotional and physical abuse, dviolence, crime, accident or disaster. Do you try to avoid thinking about anything that reminds you of the trauma? Are you having difficulty trusting others? Do you distance yourself from others? Have others complained that you overreact? Do you have any compulsive habits? If yes, then this might help you understand how the past trauma may be impacting your life presently. Are you confused about your interaction with a loved one who's experienced a trauma? This group can help you understand how trauma may be influencing your interactions.
Trauma PsychoEducation Group is a ten-week group that introduces participants to the basics: types of trauma, trauma responses, PTSD symptoms, coping strategies for trauma, and compassion fatigue. This group is designed for trauma survivors, their loved ones, and professionals who interact with traumatized individuals. It is presented using didactic, interactive, and multimedia teaching methods. This group is the prerequisite or concurrent requirement for 'Thriving After Trauma' and 'Trauma Recovery and Empowerement' groups.
