Q: Are there reasons individuals would be excluded from group participation? A: Persons who are not in treament for active addiction(s) may not participate in trauma groups. In addition, individuals who have an active plan for suicide or homocide are ineligible for trauma group. Psychotic individuals would not benefit from group participation. Individuals who plan to testify in court, should discuss with their attorney the eligibility of their testimony should the participate in group. Ability to use stablizing techniques effectively is a prerequsite for the Trauma Recovery and Empowerment group. It is recommended that the Thriving after Trauma group be taken prior or concurrent to the Trauma Recovery and Empowerement group or repeated if the group member is destabalized. Disruptive or violent individuals or individuals who come to session intoxicated will be excluded from the group session(s).
